#EucaliStories | Vote now

Literature is so important to us here at Eucali, and so is getting children to read. Reading together is great for encouraging family bonding, as well as creativity and imagination.

We are especially inspired by Roald Dahl and his darkly funny stories for children, so we want to use one of the Eucali characters to create a short story that you can read to the kids before bed. Which character would you or the little ones like to discover more about? Here are your options:

  1. Eric the echidna is walking across dunes of sand, searching for the red and yellow flags. What obstacles will Eric encounter?
  2. Gordon the galah is looking for a job and is having trouble finding the right one. Surely, there is a place for a galah that is always on fire?
  3. Petrie the ring-tailed possum has stage fright, especially when in front of the spotlight. (What Petrie doesn't realise is that the light is motion-activated and it is pointing at the fence.)

We will post a poll on our Instagram stories, where you can leave your vote, or you can engage with the Instagram tag #EucaliStories. The next post of The Eucalian will contain the winning story.

#StandWithUkraine | Donation update

We have now made our first donation to the Ukrainian Crisis Appeal, which consisted of the profits of our 'For Ukraine, with love' collection. The Ukrainian Crisis Appeal works to deliver aid to people in crisis in Ukraine, so they have access to food, clean water, blankets, seeking emergency housing, clothing, medical assistance and more.

We have currently donated $10.00 and we want to give more.

100% of profits from the 'For Ukraine, with love' collection will be donated to the Ukrainian Crisis Appeal.

The design of 'For Ukraine, with love' is a response to the overwhelming feeling of helplessness caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The tasmanian devil stands before a field of Ukrainian sunflowers, fierce and ready to protect.

You can see the entire collection here.

Recommendation | Recipe

Chicken Saag Wala by Hari Ghotra

This is a thick, rich chicken curry with tons of spinach. It looks amazing, vibrant and green, and smells so decadent. We love this curry because it's wholesome, healthy, really warm and has lots of depth. The ginger and garlic combination is an instant winner if you are into those punchy flavours. Note: gluten and dairy free too!

In all honesty, you can fairly easily tweak this recipe so it can be made in a slow cooker. If you have a stash of spices in your pantry, you might only have to buy a couple of things to make this, which makes it a pretty convenient meal.

If you decide to make this curry, please tag us on Instagram and let us know how you go. We would love to hear from you!

Brisbane | Upcoming things we are excited about

We aren't sponsors of, nor are we profiting from any of these events! However, we are keen to explore the river city, especially when fun things are happening.

Brisbane Writers Festival

3-8 May 2022

This year is the sixtieth anniversary of the Brisbane Writers Festival. In 2022, The focus is on voices from across the Pacific Ocean with the theme "Where our stories live".

Everyone behind the scenes of BWF is so passionate about the local writing scene and it is great every year. There is something for every age and every style of writing and there are events happening throughout the city.

Click here for a full programme.

Regional Flavours

13-15 May 2022

The theme of the food and drink festival is the "ultimate grazing table". This sounds like a divine way to enjoy the flavours and produce of the region.

It's honestly pretty exciting to see the advertisements for this festival go up around the South Bank Parklands.

We are particularly looking forward to the cheese events on Sunday and the Marketplace, and we'll have to go a few times because entry is free. Also the festival is both children-friendly and dog-friendly.

Click here for a full list of events at the festival.
